1948 The Operation Bureau of Kintetsu Corporation begins international freight handling and travel service. Approved as an agency by the IATA (International Air Transport Association)
   
1955 Develops into Kinki Nippon Tourist Co., Ltd (KNT), creating a comprehensive luggage handler by combining our international airfreight and inter-national tourism divisions
   
1969 Begin overseas operations with the establishment of subsidiaries in Hong Kong and the United States
   
1970 The Airfreight Operation Dept. separates from Kinki Nippon Tourist Co., Ltd. becomes independent as Kintetsu World Express, Inc. specializing in airfreight. Licensed for Utilized Airfreight Operation (forwarding service) the same month, the Company begins its original domestic forwarding service
   
1978 KWE becomes the first Japanese forwarder to take its export operations computer system on-line
   
1994 KWE becomes the first Japanese distribution company to obtain ISO 9002 quality certification. The Quadrilateral Management System with regional head quarters for Japan, The Americas, Europe & Africa, Asia & Oceania is created
   
1997 KWE in South Africa, is incorporated into global network
 
   
   
1998 KWE opens Narita Terminal in Japan
   
2000     Listing on Nasdaq Japan Market (now know as the Hercules Market), a section of Osaka Securities Exchange (de-listed as of September 2004)
   
2002 Listing on the Second Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange. "The KWE Grand Design for the 21st Century" is formulated
   
2003 Stock listing upgraded to the First Section of Tokyo Stock Exchange. KWE becomes the first Japanese forwarder to be certified as Level A on international cargo security standards by the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) at the KWE Narita terminal. The same terminal receives an ISO14001 certificate
   
2004 KWE No 4 Baraki terminal was completed in Chiba, Japan
   
2005 A business and capital alliance with Mitsui O.S.K Lines is established KWE SA wins a Platinum award for Logistics Excellence in Supply Management
   
2006 KWE adopts the Five Region Management System
   
2009 KWE in South Africa wins the Logistics Achievers Silver award
   
2010 KWE launches a new medium-term management plan 'Ready for the Next!'
